Hi all…
I live on an Island with four cats, a dog, and a husband.
We, as yet, have no electricity, and being so far from the nearest village, we have to run our own gravity-feed water system through a mile and a quarter of pipe. This means a lot of to-ing and fro-ing “walking the line” during summer months, when heat will often cause connections to expand and blow. Thankfully, for the winter months, when freezing becomes a problem, we have a small well to fall back on. Our power needs are met with a combination of solar energy and generator power stored in batteries. We do actually have a phone line, albeit an extremely ancient ( 1960’s ), and temperamental one… so we can go on-line, although our speed is hair-pullingly slow.
It’s only within the last four years that I’ve begun experimenting with photography, and while I don’t flatter myself that I am anything more than an amateur, I’ve been enjoying it immensely, and am gradually becoming more familiar with my camera and digital post-processing.The area we live in is,for the most part, untouched wilderness…we often hear the wolves serenading us from the ridges, and have seen them on our property – they’re inquisitive, and from my couple of encounters, non-threatening.Cougar are common as well, though I haven’t been fortunate enough, yet, to catch a glimpse of these lovely, elusive creatures. in short, the Island is a photographer’s paradise, and I count myself very fortunate to live here.
Hopefully, within this coming year, we will be able to afford satellite hook-up, which will allow me to upload at a reasonable speed. Until such time, I’ll submit a few shots here and there, and continue to admire the beautiful creations of your many talented contributors. Great site!
