A close up of Stalking (Lovers Key Florida) by

Just another view of the Green Heron I captured in Estero Bay Florida

A small, stocky wading bird, the Green Heron is common in wet spots across much of North America. It can be difficult to see as it stands motionless waiting for small fish to approach within striking range, but it frequently announces its presence by its loud squawking. The Green Heron is one of the few tool-using birds. It commonly drops bait onto the surface of the water and grabs the small fish that are attracted. It uses a variety of baits and lures, including crusts of bread, insects, earthworms, twigs, or feathers

Stunningly great and beautiful! And how did he let you that close without flying away?
    ( without a long lens)

  • I bet I have taken 100s of photo of this kind of bird just to be disapointed because of lighting, to far, out of focus. You are right on the money when you wonder how I got so close without him flying off. I was in my boat like I normally am when I out shooting and this guy must have really been hungry is my guess for he did’nt care at all that I was there. Thanks for the wonderful comment !
