Where did you find all the lovely gators?? Is this in the wild?
Karen Moore replied
Thanks for all your wonderful comments. Yes this is in the wild. I live in SW Fla, about an hour away from me is a placed called Fisheating Creek. It truly is one of Floridas only place left that is truly untouched. The creek itself runs over 42 miles and when the water is high I can get so far back that you think your in another world. Not a house or any people around truly a photographers delight. Glad you like this.

Nice catch. I always see them laying around with their mouths closed…lol

This one was hurt so he was hissing like crazy, so I took a shot and left him alone, think he was mad.

fantastic capture… he looks quite young by his teeth!!
Karen Moore
He was only about 6 foot, here in Florida that is a small one I have photos of 12- 15 foot gators. I only photography wild animals if I went to a gator farm I am sure I would be able to get a bigger one, but thats not the kind of place I would go to. I am glad you liked the photo. Thanks for the comment.

You certainly captured this guy! Nice shot.
Karen Moore replied
Thanks, he was a surprise I was in my canoe and he came out of nowhere. Right next to the boat was kind of scary, took the shot and left him alone. He seemed mad.

‘Fisheating Creek’ sounds just great Karen, how fantastic to canoe for 42 miles surrounded by wilderness …..
Although you said this alligator is in pain, he seems to have a huge grin on his face and a very friendly eye ….... just shows how looks can be deceiving ….......
Superb shot Karen ….. :))
Karen Moore replied
You are correct gators do seem to have a smile about them, and sometimes I get to close, forget that they are wild, and given the chance they could hurt someone. I have been around them so long that they dont bother me as they do the tourist. I still try to respect them and leave them be as soon as I get that shot in. Thanks for taking the time to comment and I am glad you like it.

Wow nice one Karen, you got realy close to him, be careful Kathy tells me they like dark meat, she is always trying to feed me to the gators lmao, fantastic work…gina
Karen Moore replied
You are too funny, This is one of my older shots last year sometimeI think last Oct. The water was low at the creek and saw him when we were right on top of him he had no where to go so he was hissing. It is not often to get one with there mouth opened. Thanks for the comment
