Lady Mariah Magdalena -acryl and gelmedium mixed with sand-by Hanneke Jonkman
Lady Mariah Magdalena
A lot of my paintings are inspired by books & articles I read. While reading them a make small sketches and the rest is developing itself on the canvas.
Lady Mariah Magdelena was inspired by a gnostic article about the “dead scrolls”. And her significant Devine role in it.
Somehow I can’t help to feel a deep connection with her character and presence in history and life.
The roses are inspired by the book of Dan Brown “the Da Vinci Code”.
I like to paint mosaics. They turn up in many of my paintings. For me it’s a great way the experience with colours.
Well Richard, this is totally true, and if you would know me, you would find that quite exceptional, while i’m a total ADHD person with way to much energy:) But strangly enough painting eases my mind and keeps the energy flowing in the right direction and painting these mosaics has a sort of meditating effect on me!
This is really good. I too incorporate mosaics in my paintings but I have never made a real mosaic … have you? I have a jar full of tessarae I collect on the beach.
Thank you for your kind compliment. Just like you I have never made a real mosaic, maybe because it take to much time to find the right colours together…:) By painting I am aible to choose my own colours.
