Patrick rides trains

Patrick got on the same train every day, sat in the same seat by himself and quietly read his book. But not today. Today his train was cancelled.

He got on the next train; saw that his seat was gone so stood in the doorway holding on to the rail, trying to keep his distance from others.

More people got on causing a squeeze. Patrick tried to defend his personal space against the crush, but found himself pinned against the opposite door.

“I need room,” he said. Some heads turned, but there was no reply.

Patrick released a loud fart. Heads turned again, and then the smell hit them. Faces contorted.

“Sorry for the offence,” he said, apologising for the nervous eruption.

Patrick happily finished the trip with a seat and all the room in the world.

Hi Craig, For the past couple of weeks I’ve been trying to write a story but have been stuck on the bit where the protagonist gets onto a train and stands by the door. It should be easy. You’ve made it seem easy!
