Tasmanian Eucalyptus ‘globulus’ is the real Tasmanian blue gum tree. The introduced cloned eucalyptus ‘niton’ from the mainland is from Victoria’s high country. This tree is taking over the Tasmanian Landscape as a mono culture industry to make pulp for the Japanese newspapers. It is expected to go all the way over to japan for this? HOW GLOBAL FRIENDLY IS THAT?
Because it is frost resistant, not like our blue gum tree which is frost sensitive, the ‘niton’ is the cause of the loss of the biodiversity of our native alpine rain-forests (Gondwana species) and waterways, right down to the sea. The forest industries spray poisons and fertilizers and has caused blue-green algae in the rivers of Tasmania.
Write and tell the Tasmanian Government to stop this hideous practice and be sustainable within our own country. World trade is the biggest form of global destruction in known history.
It takes 65,000 years to develop a rainforest as significant as the Tasmanian Alpine Rainforest.
