Profile

I am an artist of many materials such as Photography, Painting, Design, Ceramics , Sculpture and Glass which is my passion. I live near the mountains, rivers and forest areas of Cradle Mountain, Tasmania and have experienced the wonderful ancient forests and the animals of Gondwanaland.

My work talks about what I see and how it is for me, my reality. It is about the environment and the beautiful Australian bush and Rainforest. It’s beauty with sunsets and green trees hide the sad loss we are undergoing with endangered species, due to climate change and Forest Industries. I have watched the water quality change and the loss of thousands of hectares of old growth forests and old trees removed from all areas outside of national parks. For this to happen in my life time, I wonder why understanding more about the feelings of despair indigenous aborigines must have had to loose there forests.

My heart aces for the loss and every day I live with log trucks passing my home to go to get chipped for Japanese news papers, the other side of the world. This surely costs the earth! What a loss for future inhabitants.

The changing landscape along with the water quality of the rivers, dams and sea of the north west coast of Tasmania, is a great concern for me and I have worked extensively with glass to create the effect. I have just exhibited my solo exhibition, ‘The Story of the River’ hopefully expressing within the glass this daily ritual of mining the landscape and the tragic effect Global Warming is creating to the Alpine region.
