Basil 1988-2010 by Craig Shillington
For those of you that didn’t know, I have always had another cat called Basil. My little Basil was 22 years old in 2010. He was totally deaf and blind and had no teeth and was the most softest smoochiest companion for me since Jordy’s passing a while ago. Sadly on Monday I had to make the hard decision to have my sweet little man put to sleep. :( He had developed a tumour in his bowel and was no longer able to eat and pass food. I am so glad that he suffered no pain at all and that I was able to spend his beautiful peaceful last moments holding him and wishing him well. Sleep Sweet dear Baz … I love you and miss you so much matie!!

Craig, I’m so sorry to hear of Basil’s passing – such a sweet boy. He is running around with little Jordy now. How wonderful to have had him as your companion for 22 years… i know you will miss him greatly.

I have a great pet too, and I must admit reading your story about the pic made me a bit teary……he obviously had a great life though, 22 years that is a long time and lucky you to get so many years enjoyment out of your mate, great pic too…..:-(
Awww Thank you Judith. I think after what happened with Jordy over the years … having Basil go so peacefully somehow mad it easier for me. Still … I cry and miss him terribly!!

Bazzy was beautiful baby. He was very funny too! :) Even though he was 22 he still caught moths (mouse equivalent for the toothless) and slept in drawers, suitcases and had a penchant for fine fabrics!! He kept his coat in the most professional condition, to the level of the superest hairdressers – even right to the end. I will always love the bazzy honey, I have a piece of his fur here with me, I feel very blessed. Xxx

sorry to hear of your loss ..the loss of a family member is hard to cope with the wonder of photography is that we get to keep them forever in their glory days in print. Hope you have many days of smiles to come looking at this beautiful photo of a character filled boy : )

He was a good age, and you’ll have good memories of both cats.

i know everyone took a hit when that happened..again, i’m really sorry.

THanks Josh. I hink I am very lucky that he lived so long! Really I got probably 10 or so extra years with him :) Jordy passing was a much bigger deal for me. Jordy was a very strong boy right to the end! I just wished the Vet had been able to come here so that he could have passed peacefully too.
