[HOW TO] Sets in your Profile

A lot of people are asking how to do the links to sets of photos or works in our profiles … so I thought I would outline it here for those of you that would like that option.

First thing is to have sets in mind and tags to associate with those sets. Then … make sure you have those tags on the photos you want in each set. This way a photo can actually be in more than one set if you like :)

Then …. to make the links in your profile: (I’ll use my tree tag as an example)
you type the set name followed by the link to all your photos tagged with tree like this ….. but without the spaces:

” Trees ” : http://www.redbubble.com/people/crackers1967/art/everything/tags/tree

When you do this without the spaces you get this:

Edit your Profile and place the set code somewhere within the About Me section. I place mine down a little lower because for some reason long lines get cut when you view your Profile on your Overview page, it looks neater down lower and only viewable when someone clicks on the more link.

You should be able to copy and paste that line with the spaces and just change the word, tag name and username, then remove the spaces and go for your life. :) You can also bullet the list by placing a hash and then a space before the whole lot and it looks like this:

The easiest way to see what your username is, is to open up RedBubble and click on View your public Profile. Look in the address bar of your browser and it will show you your username at the end of the address:

Thanks Webby. YOU were the one that first pointed us in the right direction though. If I had never seen those early JE’s of yours I would be lost ;) So THANK YOU!! Grrl!!! :)

I might try to get organized and tag and redo these tips and things so that they can be easier to find. Will put a link to my JE’s for tips in my profile when I do it :)

I guess Helene … if you give those Works a specific Tag that links them … and then use THAT tag you can then group the Works that way. :) You’d just have to sit and think of a Tag Name that would group those works. And I don’t think they would be able to be ordered this way either

For Example … to link to all your Alchemy works … make sure they are all tagged with one unique tag Alchemy that nothing else would be tagged with … then make the set as described above. Is that what you mean?

Craig OMG this is just great. I just went and had a look at your new look page and its great! How do you do that stuff? Anyway I’m going to have a go at this today before it just all gets out off hand. First I’ll go and housekeep my portfolio and make sure they all have proper linked tags then back to try this out.

But and this is a big one….... were actually do you put the set link line? I have only the vaguest idea of what goes on in the brain of my computer and HTML is like martian to me. Could you be a doll baby and give clear and specific steps starting with were the code line goes?

I think there should be a vote on most wonderful community member every month or so on RB in which case you and Dennis Klau are currently neck and neck! Way to go baby!

Hey there Craig my computer guru from out back of the track. I’ve been trying and trying to do this but I am missing some key brain cell type ingredient here. I’m sure I got the text right but all that has happened is that the banner line html comes up in the first page of my portfolio instead of the little strip of pictures and when you go in more there is just another banner line instead of a link. How come this is happening?

Also how do you get it to all be on the one page like yours is?But one thing at a time what am I doing wrong here?

Thanks for the idea about putting titles in the tags Craig. I’ll try it if I can figure out how to get the links working. Like Juilee I tried to include a strip of pics and all I got was the text, so I’ll be watching this space.

You have it exactly as it should be Melinda …. I would suggest editing and deleting the ”’s and :’s and re typing them. It’s right though.

Okay Melinda … try putting a blank line between the link and the text above and below it. It needs to all be one single line with no spaces … sometimes they can be connected somehow with the previous line of text … or a line of text after it.

Okay ;) Now that is a little trickier Melinda ;) I recommend you go to the button generator right at the bottom of my Profile and have a look at the buttons you can make online. When you have a choice {if that’s the way you want to go} I can work with you on setting them up too :) I made the ones I am using in my Profile at that site. :) Keep in mine what buttons you want and what you want written on them …. because you can do all the buttons in one go. :) I will write a JE about doing the buttons … or at least how to ADD buttons {because some people might want to make their own too}. Oh, you need to have a web space where you can store the buttons and link to them as well. If you don’t have one I recommend joining ImageShack or Flickr

It doesn’t work for me :-(( I do it like you said, save it and then go to my public profile and all I get is the formula. I want to group mine into flowers, birds, landscape etc. The same happened when I tried to set up a link in my Hotmail signature. Help please !!!

Craig, Darren someone . . . I’ve managed to get the link set up, eg Flowers in my portfolio. However, when I got to public profile and click on it I get ‘page not found’ message. My flower images are tagged flowers – do I need to do something else in the tag to link it??
