Lament
Listen to the song here
There is a long story behind this photo. A time, when I think about it, brought a lot of sadness to me. Things past cannot be changed, but we can learn heaps from the experiences. Yes I lamented and I learned a great deal.
Today there was a tragedy
Underneath the bridge
A man walked
Cold and blue
Into La Ment
The sky coloured perfect
As the man slipped away
Waving with a last vanilla smile
Somewhere at a table
Two drowned fools
Smoking
Drinking water as they talked
Of how they loved our lady
And oh the smell as candles die
One more ice cream river body
Flowed underneath the bridge
Underneath the bridge
The Cure

Another stunner Craig. These shots facing the sun are really difficult to get right, but you’ve done a fine job here. Well done.
Anne van Alkemade
so poignant – beautiful photo. very sad.
Ants
!!!!! another standout!
ian walton
very sad indeed – means its a good shot for me. You have some stunning skies over your part of the world. I can see you getting another “Sale!” out of this one, hope you do it’s spot on.
PS do you know whether the tree suffered old age or some sort of lightening strike. Just a little aside thats all.
Sharon Hammond
What a fab find. Nice shot Craig
Juilee Pryor
Beautiful shot Craig. Amazing sky what a great find with the perfect tree and a perfect sky as well. Lovely.
Craig Shillington
Thank you Andrew :) I have to admit I had this one tucked right at the start of my portfolio with a few comments on it, but wanted to show it off again as it’s one of my own fav photos. I am sorry to those that commented on this work early on. I wish there was some way to move those comments with the photos in RB.
Craig Shillington
Thank you Anne {{{hugs}}} The Cure Song that this goes with is very moving too. But alas I cannot find a link to either a video of it, or even the song itself as an audio. I do have a link of a group doing a cover of this particular song … but it’s a female lead singer and she doesn’t do the best of jobs with it … it’s too fast. If anyone is interested I will add the link to that video.
Craig Shillington
VBS WOW!! Thanks Ants :) :) VBS I put your drawing of the wreck in my JE update for great works without many comments. I hope it gets heaps more recognition for you :)

Now this is a ripper Craig, wispy sky, great silhoutted trees and that sparkle of eternal light shining through. It’s more rapture than Lament…
Helene Kippert
Beautiful Craig – that sky is so moody!
Craig Shillington
Thank you FF :) :) I just sold my first Card …. of Hers I am sure card sales for everyone are going to be very big, so I am not too sure how I am going to thank people for buying yet. I know I DO want to display a thank you to them as a JE. I might make a new Card Sales – Thank You JE and just update it as I go along maybe? Not sure yet. I am really not fussed about selling my work (although selling work is a great bonus) as much as I am fussed about Sharing my work and getting the wonderful feed back on it :) :) VBS This tree just suffered from the inevitable immortality problems we all have ;) It’s spirit still lives on strong though … and hopefully I am helping it’s spirit fly by sharing this work with others ;) :) :) VBS
Craig Shillington
VBS Thank you so much Sharon :) {{{hugs}}}
Craig Shillington
Awwwwww Thank you Juilee :) :) VBS
Craig Shillington
Thanks Chris :) Yes I agree that the photo alone doesn’t speak a lot of Lament … but because of where I took it and the time I took it … and how I came to be there taking it … there is a lot of emotion behind the photo for me (as I stated at the start of my description). Add that to the song I chose to go with the photo and my emotions … and it all pieces together for a very sad and lonely photo (for me).
Craig Shillington
VBS Thank you so much Helene :)

Craig, I see where you coming from liking this from your port folio. On the face of it, it stands as a great photo, excellently treated and a beautiful object, but this not only says that there may have been some bad times, but the light is shinning and is rising to illuminate your path forwards. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
