Love is Blind
Well … a quick update on my sweet little Jordy man :) :) He is doing exceptionally well as you can see in this photo I took of him yesterday :) :) His fur is slowly growing back over the scar tissue now and he is starting once again to look as handsome as ever :) :) I cannot begin to explain how happy and lucky I feel … and how appreciative I am for all the LOVE that has flowed from those of you that have supported Jordy and I by buying my work and those profits going towards the Jordy Fund :) :) I will be posting some photos on my blog also in the next few days … so keep and eye (no pun intended LOL) on that as well :) :)
Thank you all so very much from the bottoms of our Puuuuuuurring hearts :) :)

frozenfa
oh dear.. what happened to him? poor thing.. Hugs~
so glad he looks healthier here..
Craig Shillington replied
He had a cancer in his eye Frozenfa. We could have just removed the tumor but it may have spread and come back, so the safest thing to do was remove his eye and scrape around the area to make sure it was all gone. He had his ears removed when he was very young because of skin cancer as well. {{{hug}}}

Oh the poor thing, I’m so glad you’ve taken this photo, this shows the real meaning of being an owner and staying with its companion.
Great work!
Carmen Cilliers
I just found your journals on this and read the whole story from the beginning to end – what a journey. People think I am mad when I say I am absolutely in love, and love my cat Zorro. Like your Jordy he follows me around and he’s always been there for me. You and Jordy have a beautiful bond and I must say he is a gorgeous animal. (I especially love the photo where he is climbing on you). Oh, and one other thing, when I saw Jordy my first impression was that he must be a special breed – because he doesn’t have ears – yea, don’t ask : )
Craig Shillington replied
VBS Thanks Carmen, they are very special indeed aren’t they :) And Yes!! He does actually look like a special breed without his ears doesn’t he. ;) He looks so normal without them. I think he is the most handsome Kitty EVER!! But I am bias ;) VBS
Lorraine Creagh
What a beautiful story Craig. I read all the journals. A bond with an animal is a gift and is to be treasured. I have had many cats and that bond you have with Jordy is certainly special and doesn’t come along everyday. I’m sure you will both give each other pleasure for some time yet.
Tara Sheffer-A...
I must say, I am really taken by this image. Congrats on the homepage feature also. But I am an avid animal lover and cats are my absolute favorite no matter what type or size, from domestic, to the jungle cats. I don’t know the story behind this little felines issues, but I am glad he is on the way to recovery. He is lucky to have an owner that didn’t give up on him and that loves him very dearly. Thanks for being such a great person for this feline!!!!!! This image was obviously taken in love, well done!!!!

Craig Shillington replied
Awwwww :) Hello you :) :) :) He is doing good in regards to the surgery :) Pretty well all healed and he still catches mice and brings them in to show them off to Dad ;) His other eye is a bit yucky now though, so I am keeping a really close watch on that. He is a gorgeous Pirate isn’t eh :) He doesn’t even need a patch … he’s THAT good ;)
Angela McConnell
yay Jordy – maybe you could purr like a pirate today – bet you have a very proud daddy! :)

Blessings to this little boy…and to you. i know how special and loved he must be…as i too love my cats as they are my babies. What a lucky boy to have you to love and care for him
Craig Shillington
WOW!! Thank you so much everyone for taking the time to read the story!! It’s not an unfamiliar story though, I just hope it spreads a message of Love and helps us to understand that animals should be just as important to us as any other child or person in our lives. We need to know we should look after them because we are actually doing things to make them live longer (and thus get more of the illnesses we get). In my case … I want to push that animals get skin cancer too!! Lets make sure we put zinc and sunscreen on them (or keep them out of the sun) and protect them as much as we can.
Thank you all so very much for your thoughts and well wishes and for taking the time to share this story (of many around the world) with me :) {{{{{{hugs}}}}}}

Awe…..glad he’s doing great…..beautiful little man..
Fabulous capture
Leena Hedman
I read the story, it is beautiful – and painful. Thank you for sharing your journey with this wonderful little fur-person. I have been through similar pain, and currently have a pet with an incurable tumor. Her surgery two years ago is still hurting financially, but we got to keep her with us. The day we need to let her go is drawing closer, I hope I will be strong. Wishing you all the best, Leena
Craig Shillington replied
Oh Leena {{{{{hug}}}}} I don’t think we will ever be able to prepare or be strong enough for that. But we can gather support and grow from the love we gave … and received. :)
PERUGINA
I know what you mean only too well.
Adrian Rachele
Happy to see your little guy is well and up and kicking Craig. All the best to the little bundle of fur.
Craig Shillington replied
Thanks so much Adrian. :) He’s not out of the woods yet, but his prospects are 100% better than they were a few months ago :)
Vuju
I’m so glad your sweet boy is alright.
I had to go through a similar decision process at one point with my pup, Oreo. She had glaucoma in her left eye and had to have it removed. I know what a painful and confusing process it can be. Are we doing it for ourselves? Will they be happy? Are they going to be content afterwards?
But your loving boy seems to be healing well and I’m so thankful to see that. My prayers are with you and your furry family.
Craig Shillington replied
Thanks Vuju. And I agree totally about all the thoughts that go thru our minds when it comes to this. At first I thought I had no choice and that I had to prepare myself to figure out when Jordy was in pain that the time had come to help him out of the pain. But when the Perth Dr looked at him and said they could save him, I started thinking more about extending his life. Even though they are our pets, it’s very hard at times to think about what is right for THEM. And it’s also very hard to not want to have them still be a part of our lives for as long as possible because of the love and friendships that we form with them.

It’s so sad that you two had to go through all of that but It’s such a wonderful outcome ! how is he doing lately ?

Katherine Meyer
Wow, I came across the pic of Jordy in the Love of Cats challenge, and I had to go read your entire blog about what happened to your kitty. Reading the story literally brought tears to my eyes. I commened you on loving your animals so much to do what you have done for him. I wish there were more people in this world who treated and cared for their animals as much as some of us are willing to do. I wish I could save every cat that was in trouble, homeless or sick, and I’m glad to hear your Jordy is still doing well! Keep us updated on you guys =)
Craig Shillington replied
Awww Thanks Katherine :) And yes, the world would be a nice little step closer to being such a beautiful place if people would be a lot more compassionate and loving towards animals :) We will keep you informed :) :) VBS

I have to say “DITTO” to what Katherine said above. Bless you and Jordy for being such brave souls. He really is a special guy. (and you are too for putting forth the effort to save him).

Craig, after I posted that, I went and read the whole story… and I confess to having cried as I read. I have two cats, (I have ahd many over the past 40 years): when they get sick, its just heartbreaking, and when they go over the rainbow bridge, even more so. I felt your pain, and Jordy’s. I’m glad I have had the opportunity to visit here and meet the both of you.
Craig Shillington replied
Awww Thank you Kyteflyer :) Jordy is 14 and has had a wonderfilled life (and he has made mine so much the richer too) Soon I will have to decide it is time for him and that is going to be one of the most difficult things I have had to do.

Aw poor love. We had a cat who was white – they’re notorious for getting cancer of the eye, ear and nose – and he died of cancer of his ears and face. They do need help but I can’t help it – I feel sad seeing this. Too much intervention? Ah well, bless you for loving him :-)
Craig Shillington replied
I can understand you feeling how you do, but if you knew Jordy … you would feel differently. If I had listened to the Vet, he would have passed a year ago, for no real reason. At least now he gets to live many more years without pain. His quality of life is just as good as a normal kitty … and I wasn’t going to take that away from him. :)

I am so glad that you added Jordy, he is truly one amazing cat Craig and you are one heck of amazing person. I am so happy that Jordy is doing fine and you have to make sure that you add some more images of him to share with all of us.
A beautiful relatioship between the 2 of you that I will cherrish for the rest of my life!
Cheri Perry
Well Craig, Susanne told me to come take a look at the photo and story that was added to our group. I am here, I went and read it all…WOW! I am now sitting here with tears streaming down my face. I too have a soft spot in my heart for any and all animals from God. I am so glad Jordy is doing well now and but, my amazement is of you. I am sending prayers for Jordy to continue to stay well but most of all I am sending prayers for you to stay strong. You are an amazing man to have gone thru all of this for Jordy. I am in hopes that you received lot’s of help financially and have not put yourself into a situation that hurts you. I understand having to go thru finances like this for a “family member” just so you don’t “think” later. It has helped me once and it has not a 2nd time, but if we do not take that chance and at least take that chance we will never know. I am glad you did because not Jordy is still with you hopefully until he dies of old age. He is a beautiful being…and why you thought he was ugly at first I don’t know but I’m glad your mind changed quickly… LOL God bless both of you. I will say my prayers for you both and keep you in them. Please, please keep us informed of Jordy’s condition and daily dwellings so we may watch his happy life that was given to him by an AMAZING man! Please keep us informed on your situation as well and if ever you need more help, please let this amazing group of people know in this group as they have hearts that will melt your soul. God Bless Craig!!!
Craig Shillington replied
Awwwww Thank you so much for taking the time to read thru his story Cheri :) With the Jordy Fund I have received over AU$800 so far from people buying my work in Red Bubble. Until Jordy’s bills are paid all my Profits are going towards his bills and whoever buys anything from me gets their name and contribution in my Jordy Fund page :) I don’t know why I thought he was Ugly now either. He is the most beautiful thing in my life now :)

I’m glad he’s on the mend. I have a white kitty with black spots who had to have an eye removed due an incurable infection – so my heart goes out to you and Jordy.
Craig Shillington replied
Awwww Thanks HardtArdt :) Basil, my other cat came close to the same fate as well. His third eyelid got infected and ballooned out like a huge marble. When Jordy’s Tumor first appeared it was very much the same and that is what I thought it was to begin with. Little did I know the Journey he and I were going to take.
