Love is Blind
Well … a quick update on my sweet little Jordy man :) :) He is doing exceptionally well as you can see in this photo I took of him yesterday :) :) His fur is slowly growing back over the scar tissue now and he is starting once again to look as handsome as ever :) :) I cannot begin to explain how happy and lucky I feel … and how appreciative I am for all the LOVE that has flowed from those of you that have supported Jordy and I by buying my work and those profits going towards the Jordy Fund :) :) I will be posting some photos on my blog also in the next few days … so keep and eye (no pun intended LOL) on that as well :) :)
Thank you all so very much from the bottoms of our Puuuuuuurring hearts :) :)

My cat seems to have asthma, so yesterday I bought an (expensive) air purifier for him….not everyone would ‘get’ this, but I thought you would.
Cheers

I only just heard about this Craig. So glad Jordy is ok now. They do become a real part of the family. We have two cats that ‘own’ the house here. They kindly let us live here. For a price lol.

My daughter and I have read your whole blog and looked at every single picture of Jordy. Its a great story and he is worthy cat to be give the extra years of life. We have three boys who we have saved from the pound. Cats are special little guys, we have a dog also but the cats are so funny with the things that they do or the poses they make. Thank you for sharing your Jordy with us.

Craig Shillington in reply to frozenfa’s comment, 2 months ago
He had a cancer in his eye Frozenfa. We could have just removed the tumor but it may have spread and come back, so the safest thing to do was remove his eye and scrape around the area to make sure it was all gone. He had his ears removed when he was very young because of skin cancer as well. {{{hug}}}

I just found your journals on this and read the whole story from the beginning to end – what a journey. People think I am mad when I say I am absolutely in love, and love my cat Zorro. Like your Jordy he follows me around and he’s always been there for me. You and Jordy have a beautiful bond and I must say he is a gorgeous animal. (I especially love the photo where he is climbing on you). Oh, and one other thing, when I saw Jordy my first impression was that he must be a special breed – because he doesn’t have ears – yea, don’t ask : )
Lorraine Creagh, 22 days ago
What a beautiful story Craig. I read all the journals. A bond with an animal is a gift and is to be treasured. I have had many cats and that bond you have with Jordy is certainly special and doesn’t come along everyday. I’m sure you will both give each other pleasure for some time yet.

I must say, I am really taken by this image. Congrats on the homepage feature also. But I am an avid animal lover and cats are my absolute favorite no matter what type or size, from domestic, to the jungle cats. I don’t know the story behind this little felines issues, but I am glad he is on the way to recovery. He is lucky to have an owner that didn’t give up on him and that loves him very dearly. Thanks for being such a great person for this feline!!!!!! This image was obviously taken in love, well done!!!!

What a lucky boy to have you to love and care for him
Craig Shillington, 21 days ago
WOW!! Thank you so much everyone for taking the time to read the story!! It’s not an unfamiliar story though, I just hope it spreads a message of Love and helps us to understand that animals should be just as important to us as any other child or person in our lives. We need to know we should look after them because we are actually doing things to make them live longer (and thus get more of the illnesses we get). In my case … I want to push that animals get skin cancer too!! Lets make sure we put zinc and sunscreen on them (or keep them out of the sun) and protect them as much as we can.
Thank you all so very much for your thoughts and well wishes and for taking the time to share this story (of many around the world) with me :) {{{{{{hugs}}}}}}

I read the story, it is beautiful – and painful. Thank you for sharing your journey with this wonderful little fur-person. I have been through similar pain, and currently have a pet with an incurable tumor. Her surgery two years ago is still hurting financially, but we got to keep her with us. The day we need to let her go is drawing closer, I hope I will be strong. Wishing you all the best, Leena

Craig Shillington in reply to Leena Hedman’s comment, 19 days ago
Oh Leena {{{{{hug}}}}} I don’t think we will ever be able to prepare or be strong enough for that. But we can gather support and grow from the love we gave … and received. :)

Thanks so much Adrian. :) He’s not out of the woods yet, but his prospects are 100% better than they were a few months ago :)
Vuju, 18 days ago
I’m so glad your sweet boy is alright.
I had to go through a similar decision process at one point with my pup, Oreo. She had glaucoma in her left eye and had to have it removed. I know what a painful and confusing process it can be. Are we doing it for ourselves? Will they be happy? Are they going to be content afterwards?
But your loving boy seems to be healing well and I’m so thankful to see that. My prayers are with you and your furry family.
Craig Shillington in reply to Vuju’s comment, 16 days ago
Thanks Vuju. And I agree totally about all the thoughts that go thru our minds when it comes to this. At first I thought I had no choice and that I had to prepare myself to figure out when Jordy was in pain that the time had come to help him out of the pain. But when the Perth Dr looked at him and said they could save him, I started thinking more about extending his life. Even though they are our pets, it’s very hard at times to think about what is right for THEM. And it’s also very hard to not want to have them still be a part of our lives for as long as possible because of the love and friendships that we form with them.

Wow, I came across the pic of Jordy in the Love of Cats challenge, and I had to go read your entire blog about what happened to your kitty. Reading the story literally brought tears to my eyes. I commened you on loving your animals so much to do what you have done for him. I wish there were more people in this world who treated and cared for their animals as much as some of us are willing to do. I wish I could save every cat that was in trouble, homeless or sick, and I’m glad to hear your Jordy is still doing well! Keep us updated on you guys =)
