After posting the b&w version, some friends commented the colour version looked equally good. And when Shelly, normally so pro b&w, said the same well, thought I’d post the colour version too and see how it compares. Let me know what you you think ‘eh :)
.
Oh yeah, this one’s colourful enough without Salma’s dance, go to the b&w version posted previously for that ;)

    Wow where was tjhis taken?

  • Hey, glad you like this :) Eastbourne is a town on the south coast of England, not far from Brighton, or directly south from London, if that makes any sense :) Thanks for the comment, good to hear from you again my friend :)

Yeah….this really is a tough one Pete because I am usually a total b&w person. I love them both equally in this case though I think. The b&w one has an almost vintage feel to it and the tones are great, but this colour one is fabulous too! I love the jewely tones in this one and the contrasts are really great. So rather than saying I like one more than the other….I’m not going to! Love ’em both :)

  • You took the words right outa my mouth Shell :) B&W does kinda recreate that vintage feel, but also is all about detail, tones and contrasts, without colours distracting the eye. But maybe, in this instance, the dusk lighting, the HDR processing and tone mapping bringing out the colours, with the lights reflecting on the wet sand, all make for a pleasing glow in the colour image. So, we two are agreed then, we can’t make up out flipping minds :P Thanks Shell :)

Yep, I like this one best. Great reflections.

  • Truth is Chappers, I do like the colour version, maybe a smidgen more than the b&w even, I dunno, but anyway, I posted the b&w version initially because I’d already posted a colour pic of the pier from the same shoot, ahead of this. Thanks mate.

beautiful reflections…I remember this pier well…love the shot of it! :)

  • Hi Jeanette, glad you love this one too and really pleased the reflections appeal, thats what I was trying to capture :) Yeah, I expect like me, you’ve been on the pier and bought a bag of those little ring doughnuts they make on that conveyor belt contraption while you wait, then got sugar all round ya chops and everywhere else too and burned your tongue eating them in the process :) Thanks for visiting and commenting, do come back soon :)

I love b&w, but I love colour too, and here I’m all in favour of the colour my friend! The richness of the sky, the lights on the pier, and the reflections really come out in the colour version. Beautiful work!

  • Hello Ursula, you know what, I swinging back the other way myself, the colour versus b&w thing I mean (hope you didn’t get the wrong idea there :P) The more I look, the more I like the colour over the b&w. But then that’s today, after a nights sleep, tomorrow I may have swung back to liking the b&w more, thats me all over :)
Thanks for a lovely comment, it’s always really nice to hear from you Ursula :)

Yes.. this one is for me… Love it in colour….. it’s post card perfect… a magic shot & it’s my fave…

  • Maria, you are turning my head towards the colour, being unfaithful to my normally favoured b&w for these shots. I must agree though, seeing the two versions up here, the colour does have a postcard appeal about it, and the reflections are more vibrant. Really pleased you like this and thanks for the fave too ;)
