Hello, my name is ToddMy accident opened my eyes to a beautiful new way of seeing the world. I now see beauty in all things, the positive in all situations, and some good in everyone. I feel blessed to see with my new eyes and try to capture what I see with a camera. I only hope you see what I feel- through my eyes.On 1 April, 2005 I was ran over by a drunk driver. I had a severe brain injury, my ribs were broke, my spleen lacerated, my right ankle broke and dislocated. All the bones in my face were broke and my ear torn almost completely off. I lost 70% of my hearing and 50 % of my vision. My neck was broke in five places and my spinal cord stretched 1 ½ inches. Because of the trauma to my spinal cord I am a C1 quadriplegic. Quadriplegia is the inability to move all four limbs or the entire body below the neck. I was told I would be ventilator dependent to breath, and that I was paralyzed from the neck down.My recovery is a miracle. It’s been just over two years and I have so much to be thankful for. I am not ventilator dependent, I breathe on my own. I can walk short distances with a mechanical aid. My broken body has repaired itself as much as possible.I married my best friend, my Florence Nightingale, Sarah on the 24th of June, 2006. We LIVE every day the best we can and try to take nothing for granted. We have a great home with 5 dogs, and are very close to our families. I am honored to have had a 21 year career with the U.S. ARMY. I believe my soul has been opened to the world as it was meant to be seen. This is how I see in my minds eye.
