I have decided to get the Sigma 10-20mm and also the 50mm f1.4 Nikon prime lens.
So now i am getting some prices and hopefully i will be able to get them soon! So much to pay for though! Until i sat down and calculated the whole o’seas trip including visa’s, getting my cat boarded for the whole time, rent while we are away etc i didnt realise what we are getting ourselves into! I guess it will all be worth it in the end and you only live once right?
Does anyone have any thoughts on a backpack to lug all this gear around? I am thinking the Mini Trekker from Lowepro looks pretty good…i have to get some filters and polarisers and stuff as well…oh and a portable Hard Drive!! See what i mean!!! Sheesh….
Enough of my rambling… it will all be worth it in the end :)

Perfect choice on this lens: 50mm f1.4 Nikon prime lens.
As far as the back pack goes… I purchased the Kata HB-207 for my trip to Europe. It was the absolute best thing I purchased for the trip. This back-pack has a space for a laptop as well as the camera equipment and I must say that is protected equipment better then expected. While in Paris I fell down a flight of stairs and none of my equipment or computer got damaged.
This bag is a bit more but well worth the price…
Have fun and good luck on the trip…

Hi Karl – thanks for your advice. I looked up the bag it looks very sturdy! I think i can get it for around $350 – which is unfortunately twice he amount of the Lowepro bag! You know what i wasnt even contemplating taking my laptop! Maybe that is something i should think about? I was thinking of getting a Wolverine HD 160GB. How much equipmetn will this pack fit? I am thinking three small lenses – my 70-300mmVR attached to my D80 with some other filters, hoods, batteries etc.
You poor thing i hope you didnt hurt yourself!
Thank you i think i am going to need luck! Argh!!!
