Prayers requested for Lauren & Thompson families

Dear rb’ers – As most of you know, my sister and I are both fighting cancer right now. But the two of us always say that you don’t have to look very far to find someone who has more and worse problems than yourself. Add that to the fact that I have found such great support here on rb from people all over the world that I feel confident in asking for these requests.
We have a young friend who also displays photos on rb. She goes by Lauren01 and she is absolutely one of the sweetest and best kids I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing. Lauren is only thirteen and has been experimenting with photography for a number of years. Please go to her page and check out what this teen-ager can do with a camera. She aspires to be a veterinarian and if I know Lauren, that is what she will do and probably with few problems. Lauren lives here in Munday, Texas – the same small community where I reside. Her family is remarkable – a precious younger sister, her mom is a fantastic teacher and her father is our high school principal. This morning Lauren, her mother and grandmother flew to Seattle, Washington where Lauren will be in the hospital for a week. She suffers from Cushings Disease and has a tumor on her pituitary gland – these two problems usually go hand in hand. While most of these tumors are benign there are still possibilities that they might not be. After surgery they are usually treated with radiation and chemo is a possibility. Lauren’s little sister and father stayed behind since we still have two weeks of school left. I ask that you remember Lauren and her family this week in your prayers. Everyone would appreciate it and I will keep you updated on her progress as I find out. Also – you could go to her page and leave comments which she would greatly appreciate. You can imagine that a thirteen year old in a hospital for a week could use some entertainment!
This afternoon our little community was rocked by a traffic accident that has two young men burned, broken limbs, and other problems. They are brothers and are live long members of our little town. Both of these upstanding young men are fathers – one has 3 precious little girls, the oldest being in the 5th grade – the other young man has 4 children – 3 girls and 1 boy, the oldest girl is in 3rd grade and the little boy is only a couple of months old. Both of the brothers were care-flighted to a large medical facility and right now my details are sketchy at best. I do know, however, that burns are supposed to be extremely painful and will require a long recuperation time. Both of these gentlemen are fantastic cowboys and have competed at the World Championship Ranch Rodeo many, many times – I believe they came in either 2nd or 3rd in the World last year. One of them is pictured in my “Silhouetted Cowboys” picture on my page.
All of these families are strong Christians and they would covet your prayers. We all believe in the empowering feeling of support and hope that prayer offers and I’m asking you to please include these wonderful people in your prayers today and in the days ahead.
Thanks for all that my rb friends to for me. I appreciate all of you.

Oh dear…please know as soon as I read your post my husband and I prayed for these people, the little girl and the two young men. We are Christians with interests in the rodeo scene and are believing for fast healing for those two young men. We have prayed across the ocean that our Father in heaven will touch them on the other side of the world. We uphold their families too. When we were in Texas we were made very very welcome by the Cowboy Church in Amarillo and have fond memories of the people from your State. We pray also for the little girl and her family… God is gracious and causes ALL things to work for good for those who are in Christ Jesus… lease tell them that our prayer team over here in Australia will be praying over the coming weeks. love in Christ…Estelle (and Dennis)

Hello – you little sweetie! Listen, I’m not really too sick at all! In fact, my boys say that I’m as mean as ever. You may be shocked to see me when you get home because my hair is falling out in clumps. It will be long gone by the time we get to go out and take pics again but that is OK as long as I’m here to watch my boys, my grandkids, and my favorite photographers grow up to be exceptional people. I love you!
