I am a Freelance Illustrator/Fine Artist, based in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, UK, although I originate from Colchester, Essex. I have a Diploma in Art, Design and Media from Milton Keynes College.
My art could be described as being art for the masses….I want my paintings to adorn homes, offices, pubs, cafes and restaurants throughout the world. This aim is being realised now that I have my work in a few countries around the world as well as in various locations throughout the UK.
I produce art that people can relate to…what they want…what makes them smile…what evokes special memories for them. I guess my particular style of art could be described as being quirky and naïve realism.
There are no hidden meanings or messages in my paintings. They are simply what they are, nothing more, nothing less. My paintings are not about trying to be technically accurate with aspects such as scale and perspective, but more to do with bringing the essence of what the subject is to the viewer in such a way as to make it visually appealing. My paintings sometimes contain humorous elements but there is always an element of realism so the viewer can identify with the painting.
The subjects that appeal most to me feature heavily in my art. These include everyday life and activities, the sea, nature, skies, weather, landscape, streetscape, sport, cars, people and nostalgia. Quite often my paintings will combine several of these subjects within one painting. Another subject area I enjoy painting is kitchen art, vintage and modern.
I am a huge fan of naive/folkart styles and one of the most important artistic influences on my art has to be the great man L. S. Lowry.
