BALI - ten years on

How does one console
in the presence of death,
where memories of loss
in the emptiness
of what once was
could have been,
where tears flow
with the names
of innocent souls
stolen from our hearts,
cut prematurely
amidst the dance of Life,
where joy was once felt
in a fleeting moment,
now replaced with mournful steps.
How does one
utter a name
into infinite space
and not feel the ache
of a silent response?
How does one
a memory
and not feel the comfort
of loving arms
no longer in our reach?
In time,
some would say,
all things pass,
but in the passing
the memories vanish not
and grow stronger still,
in remembrance
the loss becomes a friend attached
and lives still
within our dreams.

so I can awaken
behind these weeping eyes
to find you again

A beautiful and touching tribute, Cos. Memories live on and time heals some things, or at least softens the blow, but not even time can atone for such a tragic loss.

  • Thank you, Matt… atrocious acts are always remembered. My hope is that the memory of innocent victims will deter any further ones from happening… history, unfortunately, tells a different story. Good to see you, mate.
