What is this music
that stirs the loins and soul,
that opens the mind
to visions
beyond mortal dreams?;
every note
plucks and floats
weaving a cobra’s trance
through body rigid;
surging blood through blocked veins
to feed hungry cells.
I feel my bones crack and crush
and turn to dust ,
ever wary of Death’s deceptive ways,
thick with gravity’s greed.
Oh… to have every speck
ride the crest of Heaven’s breath,
to make me complete
in heady love and soulful embrace
of an angel’s restful dreams,
there I’d lay
like a cloud on a still day,
between Heaven and Earth,
thoughts entering
through eyeful contemplation;
a disembodied leaf
held in the breeze of you passing by
with a fragrance
full of rosy promises;
a song
for my aching heart to hear,
to soothe and cradle anxious sleep
with a lullaby melodious.
What is this music
that stirs the desires of new gods
birthing from sleeping hollows
that once imprisoned
the fading echoes of a wounded man?
It plays a Lazarus tune,
opening deaf ears,
inviting me to dance a new dance
with unfamiliar legs.
Death can wait,
it has plenty to feed upon,
I have new steps to learn,
and…
I know where I’d rather be!
