THE GARDEN OF POETS or THE POET'S COVEN (Pt 2)

I have come back
to the sanctuary of heart’s travels,
to repose in the company of gentle poets
and hear the revelations of silent reflections
infuse me with the liqueur of divine fancy
and listen with the fullness of intoxicated awe
as Inspiration unravels my coiled dreams
and lays them out on Summer petals,
painting cobweb thoughts of expressive translations
with adept fingertips
bleeding the ink of curious explorers,
into my attentive layers.

Your incantations
and songs of lyrical prose
weave my visions into a human journey,
where tales of love and loss
are inscribed on ancestral winds
and exhaled
into the crisp air of Autumn’s breath,
suspending as glistening jewels
in Time’s tempered caverns,
enchanting this miner’s dim eyes,
clouded by a lifetime of shadows
in search of elusive treasures.

Your rhythmic waves dance within,
awakening the murmurings of hidden seeds,
wooing my buried words and private musings
to shake with the promise of winged freedom
and find escape from ribbed meditations,
to open retiring heart
with no fear, nor conquest
and release restless night’s longings
from Winter’s sleep,
anxiously searching in a bed of thorns
and impatient of silent walls creeping with aloneness,
for the dawning of a new day.

It is with humble being I stand before you,
to utter a few simple words that struggle to embody
the ponderings of a wandering mind,
the abstract and lucid thoughts
flowing as honeyed blood on absorbent tissues,
mapping their own paths in arterial reach
to burst their intense desire
into buds of Springtime offerings,
awaiting the blossoms of lone whisperings
to share their unique fragrance and colour
in the warm gentle breeze,
kissed with the Sun’s lingering lips.

Yes, I have returned,
with a pocketful of dusty thoughts
and fingers raw and stained,
to the garden of poets,
where every season has a song
and every song a poem within,
where ghosts of poets long gone walk
and bear witness to our instinctive covenant…..
……to explore the many corners of ourselves
and find voice for the many shades and illuminations
enwrapped
in the seasons that make us……

    to the garden of poets,
where every season has a song
and every song a poem within,

Beautiful weaving, Cos, and with the very finest yarns. Your words warm and affirming.
Quietly unassuming and brilliant. Would have loved to hear you read, but….
Thank you for sharing with the distance impaired…

  • To have you amongst us again would be a treat Dick. It’s a shame that distance is such a tyrant. Any rate, great to see you mate. Many thanks.
