Hassou by James Lyall

Hassou by

Hassou no kamae. A combative posture in kenjutsu (Japanese swordsmanship) with the sword raised up by the mouth.

The student is holding a ‘fukuro shinai’ which is split bamboo wrapped in leather. This can be used to contact your partner without causing injury.

Taken with a Canon 5D, 70-200mm f/4 IS.

Fascinating image and writing of what he is doing. You may want to consider joining the group ImageWriting.

  • I didn’t know that such a group existed. I’ll check it out! Thanks!
