Beware Lone Walkers
I will not tell you where this tree is for fear that you will go in search of it. It is an evil tree and does not like people. Legend has it that it strangles lone walkers who dare get within its reach. No one goes near this tree, and if they must then someone walks with them, and they usually start running when they get near it and run hard until the tree is far behind them. But it is the lone walker the tree thirsts for, the unsuspecting person walking within its grasp whose mind is on anything but imminent death. The tree knows who to snatch, who to take into its clutch, and when it has finally choked the life out of the poor soul, drop the body to the ground and patiently wait for its next victim. Patience is the only virtue this evil tree has. So beware lone walkers for you never know when a tree’s limb will snatch you, choke you, then drop you to the ground when the deed is done. Beware lone walkers.

Kerri Gallagher
Creepy Tree in the words and image nicely done!!!
Cora Wandel replied
Thank you Keri. I took this photo from the same spot I took another photo you have commented on “A Colorless World”. I made them both black and white for the concept of a colorless world, and decided to go with the photo that you have seen with that theme. So yesterday when I wanted to post this picture of the tree I was stumped as to what title to give it because I wanted it to be distinctly different from the colorless world photo. So I gave up on a title and decided to write a quick story and then everything else came together. (A little tidbit, the spot I took these photos from is the gravesite of John F. Kennedy in Arlington Cemetery.)

Great image and well done with the creepy story, Cora! Congrats!!
Cora Wandel replied
Thank you Gili, Anne-Marie surprised me with this one, and I appreciate it very much. Funny about the story, I wanted to post the photograph yesterday and could not think of a title, I was really stumped, so I thought what the heck, let’s have some fun and make up a story that goes with the photo and get a title that way. Thank you, love some of your recent work that are drawings, I am glad we have opened up the group to more than just photography. – Cora
Karen Checca
Cora, you’ve outdone yourself on this one. What an intriguing story that goes perfectly with this wonderful shot of this old tree. The shot brought me in and the story held me there. Love it! Congratulations on feature, too. Well deserved! :) Karen

That is a spooky spooky tree
It just needs a hug :)
And some decent fertiliser
Beautifully crafted image
Cora Wandel replied
Thank you Kim! This tree is in Arlington National Cemetery, I will walk over there today and give it a big hug. As for the fertilizer, the cemetery officials will not allow me to bring any in, especially considering where the tree is located (believe it or not, this tree is at the gravesite of President John F. Kennedy). Thank you for your comments and favoriting this one. – Cora

Ok so are you trying to give me a messege here?
I’ll have to watch out for these trees.
Kaiden
Cora Wandel replied
Oh Kaiden, it all started because I could not think of a title for the photograph, so I decided to write a little tale to see where that led me. I wish I had thought of this on Halloween and posted it then! – Cora
Kim Grace
Amazing that i should comment on this image of all images the day that the new Kennedy is elected as your first african-american president! I find that spookier than the tree
And please do hug him, from me :)

Steve Buffington
Very nice Cora. I can’t even tell if its B&W because even in color it would be B&W. So B&W is a good thing for this photo. LOL. All kidding aside, its a nice photo with great contrasts.
Cora Wandel
Hi Steve, thank you, I had never realized how spooky a tree could be until I captured this one in a photo.
