His name is Diversity because no one at the shelter he came from or since has been able to put a name on what the heck he has running in him for breeds. He’s a classic mutt no doubt but such a handsome, sweet, polite boy, with a little Oliver Twist thrown in. (He’s a bit of a pick pocket, and knows how to remove a watch with his teeth the little stinker). but look at that those eyes he’s a bit of a scamp but such a gentleman!
Great shot,it’s hard to tell how big he is,but those are classic patterdale terrier colours..(and stance)..is he small, medium or large?
Thanks VoluntaryRanger..I agree..when I first saw your Tarn the first thing I thought of was Diversity. He’s around 30lbs I think..but solid muscle. He’s somewhere around five years old, clipped male. He’s something of a mystery for sure! I wouldn’t be surprised if a cross is possible. From what I understand it would be quite rare to find a Patterdale in Alaska. I’m not sure why other than the breed isn’t common in the U.S.A. from what I’ve heard from the dog show goers here. I do believe he could be a mix of some sort with Patterdale though. His coat is generally not as smooth as Tarns, but most dogs “winter up” their coats this time of year so he’s looking particularly fluffly here. He does have a bit of a ruff though and a pretty thick undercoat. He’s very water resistant too..takes awhile to even get the guy wet for a bath lol. thanks for your insight on this..I really was pretty certain after I saw your Tarn but its nice to hear my suspicions agreed with :)

Oh, and height wise his shoulder is right at my knee..so probably just under 2ft. He’s about four on his hind feet I think. Kind jackrabbit hindquarters. If he had his tail he’d be a great jumper I think, but right now he sort of hops.
