WORLD WIDE SUNSETS
I am standing at the North end of Lake Pontchartrain in Louisiana.
I thought looking through these bare trees was a beautiful sunset shot…
Looking across the lake I can barely see the “Causeway” at the horizon…
We drove over the Causeway to go to New Orleans which is at the southern end of the Lake…
The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, or the Causeway, consists of two parallel bridges crossing Lake Pontchartrain in southern Louisiana, United States.
The bridges are supported by 9,500 concrete pilings. The two bridges feature bascule spans over the navigation channel 8 miles (13 km) south of the north shore. The southern terminus of the Causeway is in Metairie, Louisiana, a suburb of New Orleans. The northern terminus is at Mandeville, Louisiana.
The longer of the two bridges is the seventh-longest in the world and the second-longest over water, measuring 23.87 miles (38.42 km) long.
