“Hold me close, under the sunset and let God’s reds and oranges soothe your eyes like this is all a dream” DANIEL ALEXANDER HOWELL
This is a representation of Ted Widen’s photograph, “Pioneer Hay Barn”, one of the old barns from the turn of the 20th century that have fallen into disrepair here in the Bulkley Valley near Smithers in British Columbia in Canada one late summer’s evening.
I’ve used 8.5″ × 11″ (A4) Daler Rowney Ingres paper with Schmincke, Sennelier and Unison pastels.
“What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset.” – Crowfoot tribe quote This is stunning…I love the paper you use, Ingres paintings are gorgeous and yours are too. And, thank you for all your encouraging, sensitive, thoughtful words…
“One does not make friends. One recognises them” – Gareth Henrichs. Thank you my dear friend! oxoxox
Wow so much emotions pour from this image and I while viewing. the sky is endless and seems to be moving on the page with the clouds. Stunning work. :) Love you word as well. :)
They are called pain and loss Therese, but there is always peace at the end of a hard battle! Thank you for your keen observation once again :-)
such a wonderful skeleton of a building, and great sky
These old barns really are amazing skeletons in the fields here Maria. At the moment they are laden with snow and I think I need to try painting them like that one of these days – I’m still trying to figure out this snowstuff :-)
