Does anyone say thank you Any More? by Connie Thomilson

Posted on April 30, 2011

Does anyone say thank you any more? I click on these wonderful works as the feed goes across the page. And Scroll down to see the wonderful comments made. And then I see, that the artist has not geven even one thank you. I try to say thank you to every person who comments on my work. I think it’s only polite. Once in while a comment might get by me by acciedent that i didn’t leave a thank you for, or it may take me a month or so but I try to say thank you. I’ve debated whether to leave comments on people’s art work, if after all they don’t read them anyway!.

Well it’s just me.

So if by chance I haven’t said thank you…Thank you!! I do appriciate your comments!

    HI, Connie!
Just saw your post…I used to be someone who could reply in a timely manner…I treasure each comment and want to let people know how much they mean to me. But life and illness and death occasionally intervened over the past year and a half, and I’ve fallen farther and farther behind. I’ve tried to catch up but I can barely keep up with viewing the incredible number of posts by my 22 page Watchlist, much less visit and comment on them and catch up on my own images. To be honest, I’ve nearly deleted my RB account a couple of times out of shame for my rudeness. It plagues me…now I don’t post much at all because I’m feeling so guilty. When I am able to sit here to reply comments, the sweet people who left them sometimes come back and visit again. And comment.

Short of leaving I don’t know what to do about it.
    But I know I’m sorry.

I do realize that people have lives outside of Redbubble. I am not blaming anyone. Just musing out loud.

    thank you for your comment.

I like to say thank you when time permits, however, I also like to acknowledge what people have said, when time permits also. I don’t like it much when people just say ‘thanks’ when you have left a comment that is a couple of sentences long.

Sometimes I prefer to spend my limited time looking and commenting on people’s work that have commented on mine rather than spend the time writing thank you’s. This seems to be quite a popular thing to do here on RB.

It is always hard to know what to do. Some days I like just looking and don’t comment on anything. Some days I seek out lots of new works from people I have never seen before. Some days I check out the new submissions to the groups I am part of. Others I check out the challenges and then tend to lose them again – LOL!

Other days I prefer to be out with the camera taking photos.

It is a big place on RB so I guess we all just do what we can, when we can.

Right at this very minute I am supposed to be cleaning up and filing all of my paperwork which has taken over many surfaces in the house. I am being kind to myself and having a little break so just popping in to see what is happening on RB.

I think I just comment on so many works and never even see a “Thanks” or “Thank you”. Just makes me wonder if they are even reading them.
