Dedicated to our favorite pastime: soaking in hot water
Valley View, a hillside hot springs with natural pools, overlooks the San Louis Valley in Colorado. We spent two weeks there in August of 2010, but photo oppurtunities were limited due to the nature of the place, as in nudists! This was my first venture into nude public bathing, and I was a little suprised when I took to it like a duck to water.
The grounds are wonderful, a high altitude hillside covered in warm-running streams which steam in the morning air. Campsites are scattered everywhere under the low growing trees .There are cabins and rooms for rent as well, but we are tenting on this trip. The man in the camp above us keeps coming out and posing naked and we start to wonder just what we’ve gotten into! but the days pass peacefuly enough and we spend our time hiking and soaking. One day there is a spectacular rainstorm and we huddle in the water chin deep for shelter from the pelting drops for over an hour before finally making a run back to camp.
There is a deep, 24 hour swimming pool and a shallow but very very hot pool at the main lodge. We enjoy these in the evenings when it is too dark to climb the hillsides to the assortment of natural pools.
All in all, we loved our stay at Valley View and will probably return. We won’t be becoming full time nudists anytime soon, though.
