Self Portrait III: Dark Knight of Urbexby compoundeye
The third instalment in the ‘semi-conclusive proof of my existence’ series…
Moments away from leaving Fisher’s I stumbled upon this old welder’s mask and began hunting for the ideal location for a suitably stealthy ‘Urbex’ portrait.
Once again the silos proved an ideal backdrop, with their mottled corrugations and raised concrete dais that allowed me to get above camera level.
I still have the mask! Wondered if I might paint it like a skull, a clown, or a Noh theatre mask… or just keep it as is and ‘pop up’ in urban landscapes as takes my fancy!
This is a stunning image. The ‘craft’ in its creation is simply top quality, but the bottom line is the aesthetics that make the image compelling and demand the viewer to stay and have a bloody good look and not just do a cursory click over. Thank you!

Gorgeous work :)
Still one of my favourite Urbex portraits inside The Bubble. You rock that mask! :D

Thank you!
Excellent SP. Great colour & texture (as usual).
Brilliant portrait sums up urbex very well, might have to borrow the mask myself!
Fantastic self portrait, love the lighting and processing…. Looking forward to some more images with the painted mask….
Fantastic shot! As Jeff said, a very intriguing image that keeps your attention. I didn’t know what Urbex was til I saw this shot, very cool.
