Scenic hiking and mountain biking trails (Approx. 5 miles) beckon you to visit Washington Township Community Park with a full picnic basket and your sense of adventure!

The 155-acre park is an ideal spot for hiking and mountain biking with its 13 scenic natural surface trails. It has five miles of hiking trails which include interpretive walks.

In addition, the park boasts a 2 ½-acre stocked pond for fishing, a sledding hill, a large playground with toddler and older facilities, two outdoor shelters, splash pad, and picnic sites. Restrooms and pet stations are also available. A separate dog park accommodates 4-legged hikers.

During your visit, discover the 1876 Whipple Truss Bridge crossing White Lick Creek. You may also enjoy a gazebo or picnic sites with grills. The trails highlight wildlife and wildflowers of all kinds. There are also volleyball and basketball courts.

Trails vary from easy to difficult to suit your hiking or biking skill levels. There are bridges and wood decks to the pond. Great lawn spaces offer other recreational venues.

Parking is not a problem at this location, found off of U. S. 36 between S 625 East and S 575 East in the heart of Hendricks County in the community of Avon, Indiana just west of Indianapolis. The park opened in 1989 and has doubled in size over the years. Various family events and learning programs are held and shelters may be rented for outings.
