Visual Food
Okay I just felt I needed to write this. I already have a blog for my thoughts but this is creative related so this is the place for it to go. School may be finished; my art year may be finished, but it does Not mean my work is done. I’m getting hungry to make an image. Any sort of image really. I feel like I’ve starved myself of using the camera, which has been on my shelf above my computer s…
Final Major Project - The human canvas: HUMAN
Okay, I don’t quite have a title for my project just yet. Ideas are swirling, forming and unforming but I’m sure I’ll get there in the end… For now the best way to describe what I’m doing is to call it ‘the human canvas’. I’ve been looking at the representation of the adverse group of people sporting tattoos. Hot stuff, you might think – sure enough I managed to find a collective group of per…
PUBLIC SPACE
New project, mostly luck and not so planned. What is ever planned, though. Made a lot from London. Some from Brighton and some taken in Bournemouth which will be uploaded soon. What is public space. What?
Fashion vs Documentary
I’m trying to get away from it (or am I?) but it seems to not want to leave: to me it’s creating a fantasy; to my teacher it’s fashion.
Really, what I want is to get into documentary photography; creating a story behind the image.
I don’t want to admit my photography is shallow. But then my photography has always been about capturing beauty, something which, visually, is only skin deep….
Photography: a personal statement
Photography excites me in the way Christmas excited me as a child! I love it so much that I even get elated over homework. I’d create pictures and sketchbooks without stopping to eat or sleep if I was more than mere mortal. I’ve heard some people never find true love; I used to believe I was one of those people until common sense and a desire for something more than ‘conceptual cotton’ inventio…
Intimate Life: Portrait
A project relating to portraits on intimacy.
Four/ five pictures; one large.
Truth
Beauty
Freedom
Love
self.
That’s what I was thinking to make, and the whole think has to be encapsulated in text. Well not so much encapsulated, more accompanied. But I think the idea of encapsulation is a good one! That takes real skill, though, I’m sure.
No, what I’ve done is gather images which make m…
A bad start to the month for a photo-obsessive :(
I finally decided to offload and declog my PC by using a CD-RW to store some of my many pictures. My 2G memory card was already used up from one month’s snaps and I thought, what the hell, a CD storage space would be good for me – and the camera.
Damn, so it turned out that because I didn’t write the pictures to the CD properly, ALL my pictures have been lost! I’m feel so disheartened and n…
VIETNAM. Day Two.
Good evening!
It’s been an interesting day today: I woke up at 12pm after feeling like I’d had the longest sleep of my life (it was only ten hours). Maurice and dad decided we’d go out for lunch (or my brunch) and then take a boat ride [somewhere]. I grabbed a quick glass of orange juice, and regretted sleeping so long as I missed an exciting fruit smoothie (which apparently, Le later told me …
VIETNAM, beginning.
Hey hey!! All the way from Saigon, South Vietnam, where I’m staying for the next week. It’s taken a total of twenty-three hours to get here, totally worth it, and I don’t feel jet lagged – yet.
The first plane journey was about twelve hours, and I think it was in that space I lost all track of time, so I’m neither in Eastern or Western time; it’s a feeling I grew to like almost instantly. A tr…
