Celebrating the spring festival of Holi by

From a photo by Dilip Menta.

The Rabari celebrate the Hindu spring festival of Holi in Rajasthan. After doing a dance called Dandi and as evening falls upon their village, the dancers surrender to the influence of an opium drink that they take from the open hand of a friend. People in northwestern India share this drink on all favourable occasions.

  • Je savais bien que tu étais occupée, you have been keeping a low profile on RB for a while and I knew you had lots to do at the moment. Pauvre petite!
I haven’t forgotten about your little girl, she is sitting in the queue……

Another wonderful painting Colombe. You are sooooooo good. The hands are especially great and the skin tone is perfect. I think your work gets better and better.

  • Hi Val! You always have so many nice things to say, it’s really lovely of you! Thank you!
I have done another version of this little man, using the impressionist methods: looser, shorter, thicker strokes, colours applied side by side, depiction of light…… I’ll bring it in to class on Friday. See you then.
