Neil & Jayson by Colombe Cambourne

Currently unavailable for purchase

This is a painting of my husband and son a few years ago (he is now 17 and towering over me and has a deep voice and shaves sometimes and can pick me up in his arms to carry me up the stairs….. and so much more!).
Neil turned 50 the other day so I painted this for him for that occasion from a photo. I picked this one because it describes Neil so well: a devoted father who loves his children to death and does anything for them and will continue to until the end.
The circumstances were such that Neil was totally alone for this very special birthday: I was in Melbourne, our daughter Chloé is travelling around the world and our son Jayson was trekking around the Annapurnas in Nepal…. Poor Neil!
We got Jayson back this morning, Chloé is still out there, so we’ll have a little celebration just the 3 of us.
Acrylics on paper.

Colombe this is fabulous! So full of life…and what a handsome fellow is your Neil! Happy birthday to him – wonderful age to be! (I also turned 50 this year). Beautiful work, my friend. xx

  • Hi Estelle, I’ve been away for a while and must catch up with everybody’s work. It’s my turn to be 50 in March next year and yes it’s a nice age to be. Merci. Bises

Ma puce, this is absolutely merveilleux.

This is a great piece of art work, really good job on conveying their joy in their facial features.

  • Hi JoAnn, it’s nice of you to leave a comment. I can see lots of flaws but it doesn’t matter.

This is a wonderful painting Colombe. They look so joyous. It was nice to know the painting’s story too. It added to the enjoyment of the piece. I am sure you husband will have been so delighted that he would have forgotten he was alone on his big day.

  • Val, that’s such a lovely thing to say. Thank you.

Colombe, it’s hard to believe you’ve been painting for such a short time! Your skill is wonderful, and I’m so glad you’ve discovered what a joy it is to paint! I’m sure Neil was overwhelmed when he saw this beautiful painting you did just for him! — Pat
