The Old Lorne Pier

I took this photo a few years ago and just reprinted it recently. There used to be a small fleet of lobster fishing boats at Lorne, on the south coast of Victoria. The seas can get very rough down there so the boats were hauled onto the pier everyday. This is the last fishing boat out of a fleet of over twenty and now the old wooden pier is gone too, replaced by a concrete one. This photo brings back memories of times gone by for me, fishing off that pier as a young boy, when Lorne was still a sleepy fishing village and not a tourist trap.
