As though I melted into all desire
away from all I know as true
into an abyss that is inside of me
all memories stirred, no familiar cue
beyond what I before had dared to see
intentions and belief retire

could I but shape the sound of nothing
make a world from endless strife
float into the eternity of dreams
beyond the limits of a life
know all of everything and what it means
and anchor still my soul on something

But this place shifts my place
I know not where I go
first slow, and now with haste
into the realms I can not know
and only taste
