I do many things but the two that bring me the greatest pleasure are spending time with my cats and expressing myself on the digital canvas. As a psychotherapist, I find art expresses life. It is a journey, not a destination. As Amy Lowell wrote, “Art is the desire .. to express ourselves, to record our reactions of our personalities to the world we live in.” “Painting is an attempt to come to terms with life. There are as many solutions as there are human beings” says George Tooker. “Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures,” says Henry Ward Beecher. Whether someone else enjoys that journey is not up to us. If we create solely for the enjoyment of the audience, then our works become our portraits of their souls, not ours.
I’m not sure what makes an artist, but I enjoy cohorting with color shape and line, discovering places I have not seen before, but which began within me. I express myself in art, and as such will always be a student.
