Thru the Window

August in Melbourne
Cold frosty breath
Foggy cafe
Hot sweet chocolate
Saturday night in the city

Crowds pour from trams
Off the train
Out of polished cars
Cashmere coats and leather boots

A night at the opera
Pumping nightclub
Swanky restaurant

All in a hurry

Then I see him

Tattered cardigan
Jandals
Arthritic legs
He looks close to falling

Ratting in the bins
He finds a few cans
And stumbles on past the window

Unseen
Unknown
Unloved
