Three Spoonbills in Flight by

Royal Spoonbills are amongst the most elegant wading birds with their long legs, breeding crest and scything, long spoon-shaped bill. These three birds were coming in to join egrets and godwits feeding in the bountiful estuary on the banks of which I am also privileged to live. The Shoalhaven estuary on the southern coast of New South Wales is home to oystercatchers, herons, egrets, spoonbills, pelicans, curlews, whimbrels and many less common waterbirds.

About ColinWilliams

I am an amateur naturalist and artist who has won some awards and done a little teaching. I combine these two interests to portray some of the birds which I see almost daily in and around the estuary on which I am privileged to live – the Shoalhaven estuary on the south coast of New South Wales. I also paint still-lifes and landscapes.
