This design is a pencil sketch taken from observation on the estuary near my home – the Crookhaven River in the Shoalhaven region of New South Wales, Australia. Great Egrets are to be find in our area for most of the year – although they become scarcer when the Australian inland has plentiful rainfall and thousandsof egrets join the rush to breed in the temporarily abundant wetlands. This Great Egret was coming in to feed on the bountiful Crookhaven mud-flats.
