Royal Spoonbills scolding by

This design is a pencil sketch taken from observation on the estuary near my home – the Crookhaven River in the Shaolhaven region of New South Wales, Australia.
Royal Spoonbills are to be find in our area for most of the year – apart from those times when the Australian inland has plentiful rainfall and the spoonbills join the rush to stake a claim in the temporarily abundant wetlands.
These two birds were scolding some egrets that came too close.

About ColinWilliams

I am an amateur naturalist and artist who has won some awards and done a little teaching. I combine these two interests to portray some of the birds which I see almost daily in and around the estuary on which I am privileged to live – the Shoalhaven estuary on the south coast of New South Wales. I also paint still-lifes and landscapes.
