Galah on Acacia (Shoalhaven Tourism exclusive) by

Galahs (aka Rose-breasted Cockatoos) are arguably Australia’s best known parrots and are now found almost all over Australia except for the wetter coastal areas. Some decades ago they tended only to frequent dryer areas but have subsequently adapted to human coastal habitation.
They have a reputation for being rather comical in their antics and can often be seen in rainy weather hanging upside down on overhead wires, with wings spread, screeching delightedly. The term “galah” has come to be applied to humans with a comic bent or in funny situations.

About ColinWilliams

I am an amateur naturalist and artist who has won some awards and done a little teaching. I combine these two interests to portray some of the birds which I see almost daily in and around the estuary on which I am privileged to live – the Shoalhaven estuary on the south coast of New South Wales. I also paint still-lifes and landscapes.
