Royal Spoonbills Windswept (with Shoalhaven title) by

From my original pencil drawing.

Royal Spoonbills are common around the Australian coast and in well watered inland areas. They are handsome, charismatic birds and amongst my favourites. Their usually spotless white plumage becomes washed with buff during rhe breeding season and elegant head plumes appear.

About ColinWilliams

I am an amateur naturalist and artist who has won some awards and done a little teaching. I combine these two interests to portray some of the birds which I see almost daily in and around the estuary on which I am privileged to live – the Shoalhaven estuary on the south coast of New South Wales. I also paint still-lifes and landscapes.
