My friend Heather and I hiked up to the top of the south side hills in St. John’s to get a closer look at the huge flag that looks down upon the city. We were pleasently surprised to find a number of inuksuit on top of the mountain.
The Newfoundland Tricolour flag (which is an unofficial Newfoundland flag) served as inspiration for the flag of Ireland, which was designed by Thomas F. Meagher, son of Newfoundland-born mayor of Waterford, Ireland, Thomas Meagher, Jr.
The smaller flag is the official flag of Labrador.
