That’s called being “Screeched in” Phillip. Here is a definition from wikipedia for everyone else:
”’Screeching” someone visiting Newfoundland for the first time is a longtime custom of many older bars in Newfoundland, in which the person is to drink a shot glass filled with Screech, kiss a codfish on the mouth, and recite a Newfoundland saying. After which they receive an official ‘Screechers’ certificate. Bars most famous for this initiation are found along the George Street entertainment district of downtown St. John’s, Newfoundland.”
There are plenty of bars that’ll do this, but only the best will make you kiss a real fish. :D

AH! We were there in August! Told the kids we’d get them ice cream after dinner (we’re from out of town…) and we were just driving around when we came upon this shop! THE best ice cream! SOOO yummy!
