I am an architect living in Bath (UK) and have been obsessed with photography since learning to use the darkroom at college 30 years ago.
After much experimentation over the past few years I find I am bi-polar when it comes to photographic medium – sometimes digital, sometimes analogue. But every time I flirt with digital I always come back to using simple, (mainly all-manual) film cameras. I like them for their simplicity and the fact that they do not make decisions for me. This means I have to think more carefully about how I make the picture and what I make pictures of.
I am making slow progress to a better understanding of the complex simplicity of photography and composition. As with so many things in life, it is the journey rather than the destination that offers the greatest opportunity for insight and fun.
