This fellow reminded me of micro bat ears. They were only about 18mm across. Found growing in the rainforest at Allyn River in the Barrington tops NSW.
I’d SOOO love to find these but the US doesn’t have the species…Anthrocophyllum archeri…that’s a mouthfull! :o) Just gorgeous and what a wonderfully dramatic image!
Thanks for the info Carla, what source did you utilise?
Hello Colin…it was from Rainforest Fungi of Tasmania and South-east Australia by Bruce Fuhrer and Richard Robinson. Only good book I have even if it is small, on Australian and Tas fungi.
How exquisite is nature! How lucky we are that you found and are sharing your ‘captured moment’ with us Colin. It may not be there for long with all the rainy weather the east coast of Aus is having at the mo! Congrats on this being ‘Featured’ too! A definate Fav! Smiles from Cobie :-)
Thanks Cobie, I think it was there because of the extra rain :)
