Capillary Communication

Capillary Communication

Communication.

All parts of the universe are in direct and indirect communication with each other.

This abstract was inspired by my physiology background. Transformed into an artistic concept.

Blood red capillaries connect every visual aspect, within this abstraction. The flow comes in from the right, bringing oxygen to all parts and taking away wastes, exits right, once again – a continual cycle of replenishment and life.

The fine red capillaries are always in communication. Notice that the free ends of the searching red vessels, are curled as they coil and endlessly endeavour to find each other.

There is a lot of movement in this, Colin, and the figure with his back to us seems to draw the viewer into the picture … you have hidden depths which seem to be coming to the fore recently .. can’t wait to see what you do next.

The figure is a lady, Dave.
Oops, I mustn’t have drawn her well enough!

“And now for something completely different…” Blythart is right, Colin, you have hidden depths! This is a very interesting painting, it works on a number of levels simulatneously. You have managed not only to show movement but extraordinary depth and perspective as well. I’m not sure how that happens with abstract…but you’ve done it!

  • Colin Cartwright replied

Excellent in-depth comment, Estelle. I like how you put thought and heart into them.

Yes, as an ex-scientist, (left-brain logic) I now embrace art (right-brain aestheticism) – which is an extra element I can give to all my paintings, not just abstract weird, but to traditional. eg, my Thomas Hair series,

Aha….I begin to understand. I have trouble turning my left brain down, so I always feel that my work is stilted. You seem to have figured out the balance pretty well. (I use r/brain – l/brain theory with my horses too- it really helps understanding their behaviour)

...P.S…I could tell right away that figure was a woman or at least I sensed it anyway. ;)

  • Colin Cartwright replied

    Thank you, Carrie!

Hmm, maybe I need to redraw the lady taking the photo.
