Reminds me to some Turner painting such a dramatic painting just like you say.Great one Colin.Ka.
Colin Cartwright replied
Yes, based upon a Turner and caricatured to exaggerate Turner’s already exaggerated perspective!.

Wow, how well you captured the extreme drama of the scene Colin. Very bold painting and done with confidence. We often walk here, but not on days like that.

I went back to look at the other for reference. Both are wonderful; but yes I can see where you added drama here. The sky in particular I really like.
Colin Cartwright replied
Thanks very much, Fran. I appreciate you going to the effort to compare the two. Most of the extra work was in the sea – spatter with gouache in the right places. As well as intensifying the contrasts in the sky, boats, buildings and land.
Linda Callaghan
wow….great atmosphere in this one Colin….the stormy seas and sky highlights the castle…great effect….a wonderful painting.

My eye is attracted to those fantastic waves at the bottom of the painting. They are so close , the viewer could almost be there. Gives the painting alot of depth.
