Just grand Colin! Lovely feeling to this . . . .

  • Colin Cartwright replied

    Thanks, Ruth.

I have a better version, which I painted after this one, which I feel has more of a ‘watercolour’ look. I’ll upload shortly!

You have captured the winter light beautifully, I felt myself drawing my shoulders up anticipating the chill in the air. You are drawn immediately to the sky and then all of a sudden the bird drops into view. Delightful surprise , bringing the whole picture together in an instant. It is truly lovely

Colin, this painting draws you into it, then wraps itself around you. Then, as you look into it, it begins to tell you how it feels to be there. The light and colours are perfect, just enough, not too much. Now that’s a painting!

  • Colin Cartwright replied

Thanks for that descriptive and eloquent comment, Estelle.
    Excellent words, and thoughtful.

I still marginally prefer the second version of this, with the shadow and less silhouetting.

    Thanks again, my friend.
