    Cheers,Dave.
The sparkle is due to the magical opacity, of the zinc gouache!

I never get tired of this one, Colin. I can see why it ended up framed and hung in your living room!
Just about the time they were beginning to use steam to power some boats and small ships, isn’t it? I see a smoke stack in this, if I’m not mistaken. (And I often am!) DS

  • Colin Cartwright replied

Thanks a lot for the comment. I noticed, some of my groups were not ticked, so I did so, and this painting has gone into those groups.

Technically, this painting was one of my best. Yes, the steamer is mixed with the fishing sailing smacks here.

Thanks for commenting, Sharon. All Countries ~ Wetlands, Ponds, Lakes and Rivers.’ group, you rejected this with the usual standard ‘not acceptable’ rejection.

Why do you just want dull photos in your group?

I have the central version of this painting, with very different light and colours, in my gallery as well, titled, ‘Ramsgate Harbour’. If you like the town and harbour, (I’ve never visited) then you might like to peruse it.

Thank you very much, Fran, for your kind comments and favoritings!

  • Colin Cartwright replied 26 days ago

Thanks Beth. I painted this one at Shipley art gallery, and refined it at home.
A lot of work went into this watercolour. I learned a lot about composition and
detailing within a painting, from this one.
