My version of a Thomas Bush Hardy (1842-97).

From an 1895 watercolour of Ramsgate Harbour.

A panoramic shaped painting, 23” x 10”.
Hand-made, 140lb rough paper.
For sale!

Over 20 hours work. Multiple layers of semi-transparent and opaque watercolour, and white zinc gouache for highlights.

Just about the time they were beginning to use steam to power some boats and small ships, isn’t it? I see a smoke stack in this, if I’m not mistaken. (And I often am!) DS

Thanks a lot for the comment. I noticed, some of my groups were not ticked, so I did so, and this painting has gone into those groups.

Technically, this painting was one of my best. Yes, the steamer is mixed with the fishing sailing smacks here.

Thanks Beth. I painted this one at Shipley art gallery, and refined it at home.
A lot of work went into this watercolour. I learned a lot about composition and
detailing within a painting, from this one.
