Blea Tarn and Langdale Pikes

Blea Tarn with Langdale Pikes in the background, Lake District, Cumbria.
In Spring, early evening light.

From my visit there in April 2008.

I hadn’t been back to the Lake District for 27 years (and it’s only 100 miles away!) I painted this to commemorate my return.
And I’ll be there again, next week (early October).

Watercolour 12”x8”

You really captured the mood and beauty of the Lake District so well in this beautiful artwork Colin and so good to see you and your work here on RB.,
    Regards, Rod.

  • Colin Cartwright replied

Thanks Rod. Good to see you, too.

I have started to paint, (I hadn’t picked up a brush or drawn before the age of 47!
And it’s is far harder, than when I clicked a button!

But wonderful therapy and infinitely more satisfying.
Although I do take photos and submit to PP, now and again.

  • Colin Cartwright replied

    Cheers, Micheal.

It was fantastic! It was blowing a gale this time, and the tarn was like the sea! I had with me, my good friends, Bill Lee from Norfolk, and Bonnie Steinbach from Ohio (both redbubblers).

Nice work Colin ! it always amazes me our different styles and choices of pallette within the art world ! no two painters are alike, that is why after all my years as a painter i still get fascinated by the diversity !

  • Colin Cartwright replied

Yes, the variety is always great to see. I attend an art class in my local gallery, where we copy a master’s original – everyone is different!

I’m new to painting, but it’s superb therapy.

Thanks for a fine comment, Lorus.
